There are so many crinum hybrids out there that I hesitate to try to name some of them authoritatively, but that doesn’t mean I won’t write about them! After all, if we get this ID wrong it doesn’t hold the same consequences as getting the ID wrong on a mushroom you might be about to eat. This crinum, which I believe to be Crinum digweedii or a close hybrid, was blooming in a friends hard today. It’s a little droopy in the heat and it had dried out, but it really did bloom out some wonderful flowers.
The drooping flower over the edge of the saucer that it is in reminds me of how we as people who live in hot humid climates droop in the heat!
I worked on a project that involved a lot of old dead leaves today. Somebody from Pennsylvania was there to help and he had an interesting invention to help pick up the leaves. They looked like little pac-man hand extensions. Their functionality was so great that I grew quite attached to them.
