On our road trip up to Denver, I must admit that it was a little flat and dull in the northern parts of Texas. The modern windmills kept our attention for several miles, and we have several pictures and videos documenting this part of the trip.
For most of our journey, the roadside and farmland terrain included batches of wild sunflowers. I believe that the ranchers plant them to attract doves for hunting.
As a side note, no breakfast is complete at a motel in TX without a waffle shaped like the state.
Then we hit New Mexico. Although the landscape was flat as well, we gained elevation, and just over a hill, a big green dinosaur came into view signaling a Sinclair gas station. The sight brought to memory the road trips taken with family driving from California to Texas. This change of scenery was the breath of fresh air that we all needed. Actually, we did begin to breathe air that was clearer, cleaner, dryer and cooler. A life saving change from the hot, humid, stifling weather we had been dealing with in East Texas.
Rebecca’s sister, Amy, came along to help out and had some pent up energy to burn from being in the car so long.
Denver, here we come!
