On Monday we left the cabin early for a trip to Weatherford to see Clark Gardens. I have been asked to speak there before, and I have accepted, delighted to spend an evening on “the hill” tucked back in to a garden paradise. Of course, I normally talk in the fall, when the Sternbergia are blooming, and I enjoy the chance to see these beauties. Right now, there were some cannas blooming and a beautiful row of butterfly bushes (Buddleia).
This was just a quick trip to plan for the upcoming Fall Festival there at the gardens. Before I could get out of the car Rebecca had to quickly sew on a button that had come off my shirt!
We plan to have quite a program and lots of bulbs. Right now, it is hot there, just as it is hot everywhere else in the South, but that didn’t stop the peacocks from putting on a show.
The phlox around Weatherford looked nice, but that wasn’t because they were receiving city water. We tried to stop at a Starbucks and use their free wireless internet (did you know they were offering that now?), but the city water supply was shut down.
