Don’t let his I’m too cool for school look confuse you. It was hot outside today on the farm, and Chris sweats A LOT. Listening to the radio while we packaged orders, the announcer kept mentioning “that it was inadvisable to be working outside in these record temperatures.” Ha! The orders had to be shipped. I must say that having Dottie West serenade us with Raised on Country Sunshine made the work go much faster.

So, not to toot my own horn or anything, but a girl has to be brave to ship bulbs. Spiders, salamanders, and crickets love to creep around the roots of bulbs! Yuck, and yes, I wear gloves. We snapped a shot of this mother spider covered in babies!
See it there perched in the corner?
Theres a sense of satisfaction I get from working outside in the heat especially since historically I have been a wimp when it comes to spending much time outside past July 1st. Having a lovely, tall stack of boxes ready by 3:00 pm for the box man to pick up was a nice feeling!

Chris Wiesinger, the Bulb Hunter, founded The Southern Bulb Company to share his finds with the world.

Good job!!! And I’m super impressed about both the spider and you working in the heat.
The boxes look awesome! Good job!
Oh my gosh, what a horrible spider!!! And when you finally watch Harry Potter with me, you’ll see it again. :O
You are SO lucky the momma spider with her babies didn’t show up when I was working!! I probably wouldn’t help with bulb packaging any more and that would be a sad day.
